Data Walks PDA
Software to Record and Report Your Walks Efficiently and
Professionally
Web-based
software:
All
information from Data Walks walkthroughs is housed on a web-based server that
allows registered individuals to log on from any personal PC while protecting
the information.
The district
assigns privileges to all individuals who will use the walkthrough software to
collect data. Individuals are assigned the following privileges:
· Board has access at the district level to view data for all sites.
· Administrator has full access to view data for a site and is the
only member type that can create classes, marking periods, etc.
· Principal has access to principal related information.
· Teacher has access only to teacher related information and may be
restricted from certain functions that only principals or administrators may
use.
Software downloads:
The software
is downloaded from the website onto the handheld. The handheld is then used to
conduct walkthroughs, and information is synchronized to the website where the
data is compiled to review walkthroughs and generate customizable reports.
Data Walks
templates:
Templates have
been developed by Learning Keys LLC consistent with the components of Data
Walks.
Purpose:
The Data
Walks Templates, as developed, are intended for compiling walkthrough data from
multiple sources (if desired) over multiple walks. Information from the walkthroughs
is used to look at overall patterns and trends in schools and districts to
determine goals for professional development.
Reports:
Various
reports can be generated from the walkthrough data:
· Overall Template Report shows data related to the number of times
each component of the Data Walks is evident in the walkthroughs with tallies
and colored bar graphs
· Cross Tabulation Report shows the relationship between two
components selected for analysis
· Overall Walkthrough Report shows the number of walkthroughs
conducted by each school site
· Overall Checklist Report shows data specific to one of the
components of the walkthroughs only
· Author Report shows data input by specific walkthrough users
Training:
Large group
training is conducted where registered members are shown:
· How data for a walkthrough is entered onto a handheld
· How the walkthrough information is synchronized to the website
· The types of reports that are generated from the data
· Step-by-step directions on how to download the software onto the
handhelds
Installation:
If needed
technical installation support is provided by Learning Keys. For an additional
fee our technical staff will visit each campus and install the software on to
each PDA to ensure that the software is installed properly and the software is
working correctly.
Who:
· The software is for any participant that has been through the Data
Walks training
· Trainings are full at 25. Any overbooking must be approved.
When:
· Training at the end of Data Walks II in a 2 hour session
Where:
· District or campus sponsored trainings are held at a campus
facility.
